40th Anniversary FORTY YEARS OF INNOVATION December 2005 As the celebration of UC Irvine’s 40th anniversary comes to a close, we have had the opportunity to reflect upon our accomplishments and honor those whose leadership has propelled us into the ranks of the nation’s best universities. Through campus festivities, we have reconnected founding faculty, staff and students, honored those who have made extraordinary contributions to UCI, and strengthened connections with our neighbors. We also recognized faculty and staff who enhanced UCI's tradition of innovation in their research and work. Our special thanks go to the members of the 40th Anniversary Steering Committee for their dedication and vision in creating and highlighting events throughout the year that showcased UCI’s impact on our community and the world. In its relatively brief 40-year history, UCI has achieved tremendous success — and the future is even brighter. Together with the help of our community friends, we will continue to grow and respond to the needs of an ever-changing global society. Thank you for your continued commitment and support of the university.
