UCI Observatory Visitor Night rescheduled
| Event: | Come to the UC Irvine Observatory and use its telescopes to see the moon, Saturn and star clusters. Discover how a night sky map can help locate your favorite constellations. Listen to a lecture entitled “Planets Around Other Stars” by eminent astronomer Tammy Smecker-Hane and learn how scientists are utilizing the Kepler satellite to find planets orbiting other stars. |

| Location: | Guests should park in the East Campus Parking Structure at California Avenue and Adobe Circle Road South (next to the Anteater Recreation Center), take a specially marked shuttle bus to the observatory’s gravel access road, and make a five-minute walk. Parking is available at the observatory for media only. Visitor Nights are open to the public and free of charge, although a $5 donation per family is requested to defray costs and parking on campus costs $2 per hour (up to a maximum of $8). No reservations are required. Remember to dress warmly and have flashlights. Amateur astronomers are encouraged to bring their own telescopes to share with others. |
