UCI symposium to focus on preservation of California coast

| Highlight(s): | 9 a.m.: UCI Chancellor Michael Drake will deliver opening remarks. 10 a.m.: Richard Hildreth, law professor at the University of Oregon and director of its Ocean & Coastal Law Center, will address regulations concerning use of the ocean, its resources and the coastal zone. 11 a.m.: Brian Baird, manager of the California Ocean Resources Management Program, will discuss policy terrain for ocean and coastal protection. 1 p.m.: David Feldman, chair of UCI’s Department of Planning, Policy & Design, and Margaret Caldwell, director of the Environmental & Natural Resources Law & Policy Program at the Stanford University Law School, will explore future visions of law, governance and science for the California coast. 3 p.m.: Sunny Jiang, UCI professor of civil & environmental engineering, and Joseph DiMento, UCI professor of law and planning, policy & design, will discuss what people can do to sustain the Orange County coast.
