Home > Contact Us CONTACT US The Office of University Communications leads efforts to promote UCI’s mission, priorities and values; raise awareness of its achievements, accomplishments and cultural events; and increase the involvement and support of its internal and external communities through regular communications to target audiences. Through partnerships with campus units designed to maximize university resources, University Communications spearheads an integrated strategic communications effort involving media relations, institutional communications, Web services and broadcast services/studio, as well as UC Irvine Health Affairs marketing and communications.
SUSAN MENNING Media Relations Media Relations identifies high-impact news stories on UC Irvine research, education, personalities and events, and places them in regional, national and global media. Through tipsheets, media advisories and an online database, media relations staff connects reporters with UCI experts in areas of current news interest to enhance UCI’s visibility. Media relations staff also provides editorial and writing assistance to the university, and represents university administration and faculty as spokespersons. GENERAL PRESS INQUIRIES: Institutional CommunicationsUnit Communications OfficersDONALD BREN SCHOOL OF INFORMATION & COMPUTER SCIENCES Institutional Communications manages a comprehensive publications program, using both electronic and print media to inform internal and external constituencies of UCI’s research and teaching programs; accomplished faculty, staff, students, and alumni; and beneficial role in the community. UCI Home Page and top-level pages represent the university on the Internet, providing access to the broad range of campus offerings. Today@UCI, the Web portal of University Communications, is updated daily to provide current information on university news and activities of interest to the campus community and beyond. For submission guidelines, see Web link. The Chancellor’s Web site provides information from and about Chancellor Michael Drake, as well as updates on campus initiatives. Zot!Wire features a broad range of UC Irvine news briefs, updated frequently each workday. Submit news items to zotwire@uci.edu. UCi brief, a weekly e-newsletter for employees, provides a concise overview of current campus news, work-related information, faculty and staff accolades, plus a selection of featured campus events. Web Services builds and supports campus Web sites, applications and back-end technologies in support of university priorities, and collaborates with campus units to facilitate projects with broad campus impact. Keeping this important constituency informed and knowledgeable about campus-related information is vital to the overall function of the university. University Communications assists in facilitating and disseminating campuswide communications with faculty and staff.
