UC Irvine has been awarded nearly $1 million over four years from the California Postsecondary Education Commission for a project to improve math and science teaching in grades K-2. The partnership between UCI and the Compton Unified School District will provide training for 225 teachers, affecting more than 7,000 students in the district. The project will be administered by UCI's Center for Educational Partnerships and will involve faculty members from the School of Physical Sciences and the Department of Education. George Miller (pictured) in the Department of Chemistry at UCI is leading the effort.
